Howdy folks,

Thought it might be interesting to find the modern counterparts to the classic knives of yesteryear.

Something like this:

Classic small pocketknife of yesteryear: Case Small Sodbuster

The modern counterpart: Kershaw Leek

What would the modern counterpart to the Buck 110 be? Part of me thinks it would still be the Buck 110...;)

Best,

Heekma

Pick any Case slippie from yesteryear...then find the Rough Rider match.
Not saying RR matches Case's F&F, quality, etc...just design.

Buck 110 modernized = KaBar Mule / AUS8

Uhhh.... Rough Rider? Seriously? Wouldn't you rather just have another Case? They haven't stopped making them, not by a long shot. And now they use modern materials, too, like G10 for the handles.

I think you'll find that, outside of this silly little microcosm, the "traditional" or "oldschool" knives still enjoy wide popularity in society. Many people who have a pocket knife (and are not knifenuts, armchair commandos, weird hoarders, or mall ninjas) have a simple, "traditional" knife.

I was going to say Buck 110 would be like the Benchmade 710 now. Seeing as how they both start with B's and they both have 10 in the model

I would say the case peanut would be more like the Kershaw Chive.

Buck 119. I'd compare it to a Bark river (whatever its comparrison it would have to have a gaurd)

Yep, I know Case still makes them...I have a few. And, Yes, I'd rather have a Case. Just pointing out that RR makes 'new versions' of traditional patterns.

Here we go with lets bash RR.Unless you have had one,or tested one your bashing does not carry any credibility.

Not bashing, didn't mean to come off as such.

...but they're not new versions, they're built according to the same traditional patterns. It's just a different company.

I'd say that's probably a good one, or maybe even Buck 110/Spyderco Endura. They're similarly sized, meant for similar uses, and are pretty iconic in the current climate of the "knife world."
