Allen Elishewitz knives - New Designs? Hogue Knives? Canceled?

So lately... I have been drawn to Allen Elishewitz's Hogue EX series of knives (EX03) EX04 etc...

I saw that he was working on an EX05 design but I guess that on the Usual Suspects Network he said that was canceled? Anyone know more about the status of future Hogue Knife designs?

Here are the EX05 prototype photos that caught my eye:

I don't know anything about this one. But if they did make it, I would buy one for sure. Has the look of his midtech knives.

Here are some more photos of the X 5 / EX05 knife from Allen's blog - I read on a youtube comment that Allen said that it was delayed/canceled....

I love my Hogue EX03 3.5 drop point and tantos... tumbled finish button lock with a mirror polish for under $100 - more please!

Well the EX04 just came out with the Hyde blade shape so I don't see an issue with them delaying this one.

Don't know anything about it but I like it!

I have the EX-04 and think it an outstanding knife.

If that's the 05 and it makes it to production I think I might have to have one.

Another prototype knife design for Hogue By Allen - from his blog:

I just finished a few of these prototypes for a new neck knife Hogue will be producing soon. Come by the booth at the Blade Show (#54 & #55) to see them and all the line!

Which model do you have? I've been looking hard at them the last couple weeks. I'm not into wharnies, but dang that knife appeals to me for some reason!

I have a Hogue EX-01 3.5" Tanto with Gmascus handles and I absolutely love it.

In my opinion Hogue makes some of the best Production knives you can get.

And there button lock is awesome and functions flawlessly.

I could see how the EX-05 got canceled, as the EX-04 model looks almost identical.

However I like this model more than the 04 and would def pick one up if they released it.

They definately could think about finally upgrading their steel choice.

I hope they do someday.

The EX-04.

The modified Warncliff blade is an outstanding design. Once you understand it's full utility and ability you can see what an amazing and brilliant design it really is. The double re curve and grind with the reinforced tip allows for some incredible slicing / stabbing. You really have to see and handle it to get a full appreciation but I will say I'm very impressed by this blade.

I'd add that the button lock is a very strong and sound lock. I saw some utube's of Allen testing it and it held it's own in a big way. I have complete confidence in it.

I wouldn't mind an upgrade in steel either but to tell you the truth I'm very happy with 154CM. I find that it offers an excellent balance of edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It also sharpens fairly easily.

I really don't have any complaints with it.

I have the older ex02 and it's solid knife.

Good lockup and no blade wiggle.

Only downside is cheap feeling black blade, wish they made a stonewash blade.

You mean like the gorgeous tumbled mirror polish steel of the Hogue EX03? gratuitous photos below...

Oh mama that thing looks like a beast. That handle looks sweet...that must be the 4" version? I'm tempted by the 3.5" one bad...those pics aren't helping! :) :D

rpn,

Yes, It's the 4" model. If your already thinking about it you might as well get it now. Resistance is futile...

But seriously, It's a very impressive knife on many levels. I'm sure you'd be very happy with it.

+1 on the EX04!
If and when Hogue comes out with another Elishewitz design, I will definitely buy one.
