Anyone know what those screws he uses are called? The ones which have three holes in a triangle pattern?

This has stumped the experts at my local specialty fastener store...and apparently even Google. I have searched using all kinds of keywords and can't even find an image of one if these screws.

I want to get a bit that works on these but this seems like an impossible item to find. Obviously it exists, Allen uses these screws and has a bit that fits them.

Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try doing a Google search for "microtech tool" (without the quotes) and looking at the third link down. The first two links are to BladeHQ but they seem to be out of stock. The first link that shows in stock is not a BF dealer.

There seem to be several different sizes in use-- good luck.

Thanks. Found some but not sure they will work on this screw because the head is domed. However thrilled to find these in case I get a Microtech knife some day!

There's a pic of the bit next to my actual knife on Allen's blog. The prongs on the bit are more extended than on the Microtech bits.

Kind of hard to see but here's the pic:

I'm pretty sure they're a custom job like the microtech wrenches.

In a pinch you can try this as long as you don't need much torque. Soften the end of a Bic pen cap or similar plastic and then push it onto the screw head then let it cool. The impression is often enough to turn the screw unless it's been locked.

The official umnumzaan wrenches from CRK are made of derlin, so plastic is perfectly capable of limited use.
