I keep knives, just to keep knives, i have such a hard time putting them to use i don't want to damage them.
Out of the 20 somewhat knives i own i use and damage about 3. Worse yet is that i have backups to most of the knives i love. With 4 ZT0200's and 3 ZT0160's i consider myself a knife hoarder. It's a illness.

Today i acquired a beaten up esee 5 and i intend to beat it up some more. I also own 2 4's and i just can't put myself to using them. It's a shame.

So i hereby make a solemn pledge that i'll start using and abusing one griptilian, a esee 5 a zt0160 a Adamas and a Opinel 7
They're ment to be used but my hoarding instincts tell otherwise.

Crazy!

I'm up for a camping trip next month and i will post some pictures of the used knives. Consider it knife therapy, i need some knife therapy right here.

The 160 takes a nice edge, that sandvik is good stuff. It doesn't seem like a tool though. It has a weapon like demeanor about it. I love the way it feels. handle is nice and thick. Fit and Finnish is better on Esse knives. I consider it a budget ZT and it shows. I should be beating one up next month, see how it holds. It would work really wel as a SHTF knife. it strikes a nice balance between weapon and tool, leaning more toward weapon.

The sheath cannot compete with esee sheaths, but try's.

To me the main thing is that it just looks so damn good. It's so dark and stealthy. And it looks good when you put it next to some other black zt's. Makes for a nice display with my zt0350 and 0200(s)

Nice. One of my favorite fixed blades is my 0121. Only thing I don't like about it is the finger choil cord cutter thing. It should have either been a real finger choil or more blade. Other than that, perfect.

Don't worry, there are a lot of 'knife hogs'....

And don't start thinking you're doing something wrong if you don't use some of them.

You paid for them, you do what you want with them.

Collectors, users, collectors and users.

There's room for everyone.

Dude just use em. Unless they're one of custom "art" knives then they're meant to be used.

Do you feel comfortable sharpening knives? I was reluctant to use expensive knives before I became a competent sharpener. If you aren't take the time to learn or buy a guided system. Most use does nothing to ruin a knife it just eventually gets dull and that can be remedied

Redmasta you haven't seen OCD unless you ventured into the maintenance sub-forum, that where the truly OCD bladeforum members hang out, by their standards I am tame...

And I do say that with the utmost respect, but the level in which some of these guys take knife sharpening is beyond an art it's just unreal.

Its a disease, and most of the people here are infected by it which is why we log onto this site. Consider this, those knives that are safely stored away also have a life and a purpose, take them out once in awhile and put them to use. Use them well and they should look good for an entire lifetime or more.
