its a gopro hero 3, it is okay, sometimes i want to smash it to little Chinese made pieces
the smaller ones fight okay but are subdued in about 5 minutes..at 80+ pounds its anyone's game, they will go strait into underwater trees, and jump like tarpon as well, at over 100 pound you can get dragged around for hours
i have lost over 5 really big ones to underwater trees the last few months..
people do eat them, the limit is one per person in Texas, im not really a fan of killing them myself but i do hear they taste good..im up to 11 for the year all catch and release biggest was about 80 pounds from the kayak

this is how i have been targeting them..use cut carp or buffalo on the bottom
when you get a run let it run in freespool until it stops(could be hundreds of yards) wait until it starts moving again and then set the hook..he is finding a good place to eat it when it runs, before he stops its almost impossible to get a hook through their bony armored face, use bronze treble hooks if you want to release them so if you have to clip the wire the hook will rust out in days..J hooks hurt them and circle hooks just suck against them..for the smaller ones look up gar rope lures..can be way easier that way to land one, no hooks involved they get their teeth tangled in the rope and cant get free..if you break a gar off with a rope lure it will die though..
