At the only knife show I've attended, in Tacoma, WA, one of the more impressive collections displayed was of Al Mar knives. I found it to be a very interesting, attractive collection. Have to admit was most impressed by the Al Mar Smatchet. Golly, those things are big.

I wish I had a better memory to be able to describe it to you. I knew nothing of Al Mar at the time, other than that the company had just issued the SERE2K, and the 2 new autos. There was a lot of paperwork with it. The owner told me it took him something like an hour and a half to set it up, and 45 minutes to take down. Think he had to use 2 tables.
So, there's quite a few knives involved.

Hope this helps a bit. Would imagine that Bernard Levine's forum is the best place to answer your question.

The short answer is yes. The older Al Mar knives produced when Mr. Mar was in control of the company are selling very well. The better (mint) examples tend to sell at a solid premium above the original retail price. As always, much will depend on which knife you have, what shape is it in, where and how you choose to sell it, as well as a little bit of luck.
