Almiste handles?

I'm buying a Spyderco Massad Ayoob plain edge knife and was reading about the knife in Tactical knives mag.
It talks about the Almiste handles.

Can someone tell me what the handles are made out of?

I was thinking it had aluminum handles , but maybe not.

From the Spyderco website: Almite: A microscopically thin coating which, when adhered to aluminum, provides scratch resistance and can be tinted into most any color.

Almite must be proprietary and thus an exact definition is not available.
