Almite handles--any thoughts?

I have been thinking of getting one of the new navigators with the almite cut-out handles. The cut-outs are supposed to improve grip(besides reducing weight).

Any thoughts on almite as against SS, FRN, G-10, CF?

I like G-10 for its grip, hardness(unbendability), and moisture resistance. But there do not seem to be many 2-inch knives from spyderco with G-10.

I have the CF dragonfly and like it a lot, even though it's slippery. Here the handle shape compensates.

How does almite shape up against SS? I notice that for the almite handles, the blade rivet is exposed(which I like). Is there any reason for this?

Appreciate your replies.

I really really like my Navigators with the almite. If you want grippier, then find one of the Navigators in G-10. I think the navigator is a great knife, cuts alot bigger than it looks. Just my 2cents worth.

I have an Almite Walker. Very beautiful, even non-knife people admire it. Unfortuately, I dropped it on a concrete sidewalk and now it has a permanent, nasty gash about 1/16 inch deep which is cut through the almite into the aluminum. Ouch. One of the hazards. For handling, it is not as slick as CF or polished Micarta. I think it is about the same as the unpolished linen micarta (like on the Calypso full size).

Dude,

The almite coating is COOL

Spare the nicks and scratches, colours do add more personality to the Spydie handles!

Cool knife, Thai E-Nep. Check it out. Who knows? You might even want one.

Gentlemen, thanks for your replies. Almite seems to be well liked. Maybe I'll just give it a try.

Don't mean to be the only voice of dissent, but I don't care for the grip on my Mouse. I love the knife, but it's just too slippery. G-10 would be great. Can't compare it to SS handles as I don't have any. Just my opinion.

Hi Sal.
Thanks for a warm welcome!

But I'm not totally new here -- I check this forum every now and then -- just been kinda hang out at the AsianForum for a long while, with Sam mostly.

I really like almite. As far as how slippery it is, the cutouts on the navigator really help. The only gripe I had is that, after a week of clip carry, I have a wear spot on the top of the handle. Oh well.
