This is the third of the completed (nearly) of my modern sgain dubh style. This one is paper (I first typed linen) micarta with black liners and fully cold blued.

Christof, I like this!

Just curious, how did you do the surface prep on the blade before the cold blue? Mirror polish or hand rub? Thanks. -Matt-

that one is belts to around 600 grit and then hand rubbed from 400 to 800. Then a lot of cleaning. Lots of cleaning. I'm really wishing I could remember the name of the cold bluing that likes oil :D

I've never been able to easily clean a blade that I'd buffed to the point where blue would like it. It's doable, but takes an awful lot of time.

Thanks for the info Cristof...wanted to try it on a future project, figured I better learn a little more about surface prep first!:D -Matt-

Very, very nice. The handle material looks more like paper Micarta than linen, but it might be that I'm just not able to make out the fiber pattern.

awright. I am a dork. it is paper, I know it's paper, and I need to edit that from linen to paper. Thanks for catching that, Keith!

Really like that handle shape and side contour. Its different :)

Thanks all! I've done a few of these now and I think it's close to becoming my "signature" self defense/utility knife

This one turned out "Beautiful" Koyote, I know Hawkman Like's his New Sgian Dubh, Keep up the Great Work !

He's got it now, and it did come out nice. I'm really happy with that one. The gambler model I did is almost a 180 contrast.

I am extremely curious would this be a right handed knife or left handed.

I am leftie, and when I ordered my spanish boar hunting dirk, I forgot to tell that to you and received a right handed sheath. My fault. The knife is awesome, huge and sharp....great knife. I mean both are...

That one is right handed. I am also a leftie and make left handed knives and sheaths, no problem. For this type of knife, I have no problem using is left handed, but for a leftie I'd put the canted butt on the other side.

Your sheath could probably be reversed (depending on which specific one it is) without more than a few minutes of restitching the snap and moving the belt hanger.
