Was walking out of a QT today.... one of those mini marts at the gas station where you can find a bunch of delicious but bad for you food.

Reached into my pocket for my phone. A few steps down the walkway I did the pat down I obsessively do about 25x a day to be sure I have keys, phone and knife. Knew something was missing.

No knife on this round of pat down. Turn around and see my well oiled, nicely worn small CRK leather pouch sitting about five steps behind me. Inside the mentioned pouch was my recently taken off the new car lot, small Insigno 21.

I urge you to cherish your time with your CRKs because you never know......

Scary. Glad you made it! I do the same pat down countless times a day. Can't imagine how shitty it'd feel to lose one of my CRKs. I'd rather lose my wallet.

I hear ya. I lost a large 21 silver dog paws Sebenza. Still bothers me and I am still always hoping it shows up.

I have to go take a cold shower now and write myself two apology letters.

Glad it turned out ok!

Glad you caught it!

My 25 fell out of my pocket at work one day. A coworker found it and thought it would be funny to wait a couple of days before giving it back... I'm sure it was hilarious watching me freak out and tear the office apart.

How, in the name of everything holy and righteous did you manage to drop a CRK that was in a pocket sheath, deep in your pocket??????
I guess I've given myself a false sense of security thinking pocket sheath carry was way safer than clip carry concerning losing a CRK.
Looks like I'll have to get in the habit of feeling myself up to make sure I don't loose one of my CRK's

I'm glad you were alert and was able to prevent someone else from claiming you hard earned money.:thumbup:

Too close for comfort! Luckily you check often or you would have been making a very different post:)

Whenever I depart any establishment, I do the patdown. Wallet; Phone; Blade; Glock. Glad your check retrieved your Sebbie.

Dunno, I also go the pouch route vs the clip for that reason. I had one of those days where I had pocket overload with a few receipts I was carrying, think I had a pair of ear buds in there...etc. It was the weekend and it is hot as blazes down here in the ATL, so shorts were being worn with large pockets..... Guess it was a perfect storm for what happened.

The wife and I are doing a root cause analysis to avoid an incident like this happening again. I may go to a load bearing gear rig... may get a few looks when I go to parent/teacher conferences for my kids, but better safe.

ps. I find it funny that others do the self pat down to check for gear. I guess I'm not the only one that may have a mild OCD tendency on my EDC load.

I had lost my ti lock a while back for about 5 days. I kept telling my wife it was not lost but some where kicking around. One evening she found it stuck under the mattress pinned against the platform frame. She tosses something over to me and it lands on my lamp. I screamed in a high pitched voice " YOU FOUND IT!" One of those rare days I passed out after a graveyard shift on the wrong side of the bed. Now I know what happens when you do that. Your knife disappears.

That makes me feel better, I can understand the over load pocket coupled with over sized pocket openings. I buy my shorts based on the pocket opening size believe it or not. I've found the Carhartt shorts to have narrow pocket openings as well as side pouch to carry other things in.
I pocket carry in a sheath because of the cost of the CRK's and the sheath gives it a worn look over time and limits the snail trails. I would be sad, very sad if I lost a CRK.

You're certainly not alone in the pat down. Just about every time I get up from the desk or head for the door, front left pocket, front right, back right....

This is very frightening to hear. My office carry rides in the leather pouch, as well (right, front pocket), and I'm constantly doing the pat-down. However, I don't carry anything else in the pocket with the CRK, so maybe I don't have as much to worry about? I don't trust clips anymore, as I've been burned a couple of times that way.

LOL - The sound I make "patting down" checking for my wallet, knife and other paraphernalia drives my wife nuts! Glad you checked!

I too do the patdown throughout the day. Wallet, phone, keys, knife, flashlight, misc pocket tools, lip balm etc.

I think every true EDCer learns this pattern. Haha

I carry my smalls iwb 1o'clock. I just don't feel comfortable with it low and clipped on a pair of shorts. Too much swinging around and no feedback if it's there short of the pat down.

I am glad that you found your knife before you drove off... Some schmuck would be opening paint cans with it by now

Don't forget keys!

I count down the things I cannot loose, like I got usually 3. Keys, phone and knife. I also always take a look back wherever I sit down to see if anything is left behind, clothing etc. A good routine..
