I've been carrying a pocket knife nearly every day for about 8 years. That's nothing crazy to most of you I'm sure but where I live I've pretty much never had it be an issue. Obviously I don't try to get on planes with it, but otherwise I pretty much carry one without fail everywhere I go. Bank, post office..wherever.

Well Saturday I went to a heavy metal concert in Columbus Ohio. For those of you who are familiar with heavy metal, this is the same venue where Dimebag Darrel was shot and killed about 10 years ago. To my recollection I have never been patted down at a concert before but it happened here and before he made it to my side pockets I realized I had a big ol pocket knife in there. I warned the guy and he told me I'd have to leave it in the car. My cousins fiance dropped us off so I told him I didn't have a car to leave it in and he replied that I'd have to leave it with the ticket lady. I wasn't sure if I should make her aware that it was a fairly expensive piece but decided to just play it cool. I hand her the knife, she chucks it in a drawer.

So I told the guys I was with to please try and help me remember the knife at the end of the show and they said they would. At various points during the show I checked my pocket for it, but when the headliner came on I pretty much lost focus on anything else and just rocked out. I also drank a whole bunch of beer. So at the end of the show, we are standing in the parking lot waiting for our ride when suddenly one guy goes "oh hey, you get your knife?" Thank god he remembered.

So I guess the moral of the story is be careful where you carry the knife!

Man, you're lucky! I wouldn't trust venue staff.

And being from TX, Dimebag Darrel and Pantera will always hold a special place in my heart.

I remember about 40 years ago going to the Seattle airport to pick up my newly adopted sister from Korea. Anyhow, my dad, as he does to this day, was carrying his Buck 110. He left his knife with the guy at the metal detector, we picked up my new sister, but on the way out, there was no knife to be found. I remember searching for about 1.5 hours for the guy who 'put it in storage' with my new sister tagging along who couldn't speak a word of English. Can't begin to imagine what was going through her head as we wandered aimlessly around SeaTak. We did finally find him, though. It was in that dork wads pocket.

Yeah I had a hard time with it. When I went back up I told her and she said "what's it look like?" I said "uh, its black and silver and says ZT on the blade.". She rooted around on that drawer for what seemed like an eternity before producing the knife. Definitely got a little nervous.

I would have, too! I'm 99.9% sure that was the only premium knife in that whole damn drawer!

What didja say! RE! SPECT! Lol, had to say that.

Haha love it! :D

"Walk on home, boy..."

It was a band called Mushroomhead. They're from the Cleveland area.

Yeeeeuh! I like em. They do a pretty nice cover of that Seal song "crazy". I lurve me some Pantera too. I cried the day Dime passed, and I don't cry, ever. I'm not ashamed to admit I openly wept like a baby. That was so senseless, and it couldn't have happened to a more undeserving person. Dime would have given the shirt off his back to anybody.

Just so this has some knife content - glad you got your blade back! I remember one time going into Astroworld I was carrying a nice knife. I can't remember what it was, but I hadn't carried junk for years by that point. As we were walking up to the gate, I very inconspicuously tossed it under a bush. I memorized exactly where it was. We had a great time riding all the rides and when we came out, I picked it up and it went back in my pocket. I almost couldn't believe it was still there!

The "crazy" cover is one of my favorites. The new album (released yesterday) has a interesting cover of Adeles Rumor has it.

Dime was killed on December 8th which is two days after my birthday. That was my senior year of high school and I was looking for a concert to go to on my birthday and was really excited to see Damage Plan was playing in Columbus. Then I realized it was on a Wednesday and decided against it. Had that show been on Friday or Saturday I'm confident I would've been there. What a tragedy.

I did that at this one library I went to once. I couldn't take my knife in so I went outside and put it under a bush when no one was looking :p Later when I was leaving I grabbed it and went on about my day

I would have been so scared I wouldn't get my knife back or that it would accidentally be given to someone else. I've been to a few concerts and they never did a pat down or anything  I carried a cheapo to a few just in case tho
