A guy at work has a pretty darn new Case seahorse whittler in white bone that he's looking to get rid of. Its got the box and paper. He told me to give him a "fair price" for it.. $30?? $40?? What were they new??

If it is unused and mint in the box he would likely get between $35.-$45. on the secondary market. If slightly used, then less than that.

Personally, if it is MIB start at 30. you can always go up a little if you want, but going down from there is not an option.

They are a fine working pattern slipjoint in my opinion!

I agree with sunnyd. About $40 for a bone handled seahorse is a fair price.

i was thinking $30.. Ive already agreed to buy a peach seed jigged autumn bone one one from a different guy at work for $35.. Its not in as good of shape, but is still a really nice piece.. I had no clue what it was worth.. He threw out $35 and I said sure..

They are worth what you want to pay ;)

Great pattern, sounds like a fair price range.
If you bought on the forum, you would have a little shipping as well.
