With the last one of my liner locking knives on the block....
A handful of production knives I'll keep for camp outings,"semi-disposable"...
A few production slips and lockbacks, more than half are sentimental.....
A few real nice small EDC custom fixed blades...
A custom kitchen knife array....
I have come to the point, that I exclusivly have been carrying my custom handmade slipjoints
I don't think there is any turning back.
What do you think about that ?

It took me a long time to actually start carrying a custom slipjoint, but it certainly wasn't because I didn't have plenty of them. Once I started carrying a custom slip, however, I can say without a doubt I won't be returning to a factory EDC. I only have a couple of factory slips left and they are not for carry. I started using custom fixed blades for hunting a few years ago.

I can remember the day I stopped caring about keepsakes. It was when I realized how worthless my once very valuable card collection had become. Now, I know there are difference between collecting cards and knives as cards have no function, beauty, or both. But since I was a kid I cared for my collection like a mother bear protects her young. For what? so they could be as worthless as the paper they’re printed on? I should of used them in the spokes of my tires and for throwing when I had the chance.

Not that I do not care for my knives, I just remember coming to the realization that I only live once and should carry my custom knives and use them for their intended purpose. I'm all about function now... I even sold what I could of my collection and other useless collected crap to fund a nice fishing boat - something that will provide good use and memories rather than something that just sits in a box tucked-away.

I hope my rambling makes some sense.

I hear what you guys are saying. You know,I have some real nice production slipjoints, but lately,I can't get into carrying them, when I could be carrying one of my custom slips.

More than you may know, I have and will continue to use, carry and enjoy the knives that make me smile. I have a Tony Bose 4in, stag, 2 blade, wharencliff trapper thanks to several forumites. I carry it to work everyday, and just the act of taking it out of my pocket and opening it makes me smile and brightens my day. If that makes me crazy than bring out the lace-up jacket cause I don't see me gett'in better.

My wife can't understad why I "need" so many knives. Lately I've been trying to SLOWLY set some of them free to fund a custom knife that I would carry daily. Something a little more meaningful than they already are. (Wait till she see's the price of this adventure!) I can't wait to get this one!!! Talk about anticipation....:)

Good for you Vince. That's like getting a diploma guy. You just graduated.

Like Tony says, if a guys got a BMW he's going to drive that thing and not think a thing about it. A custom pocket knife should be easy to carry.

Kerry,
Look at my post count.A lot of it was from enough "I'll take it's" to choke a horse, add on as many,if not more "btt, price drop"
I am approaching 2 years here in the Forums, and have tried many types of knives, but have come to the realization, that the slipjoint is THE folder
I like a lockback,too.
But the traditional pocket knives is all the knife I need.
A custom handmade slipjoint is THE knife, end of story.Of course I'll always have others(I am a knifenut,I'll admit it ),and straight knives too,but the true perfect work of functional knife art is the custom hand made slipjoint.I get it now

Vince -that's a sharp looking knife- I mean beautiful knife! I'm having one that I already own "improved" , hopefully by MM. We're in the discussion stages now so it'll be a few weeks before this is realized.
