Almost threw away my first knife...

Back when I was about 9 or 10, my father gave me my first ever pocket knife. It was a knife he had been issued when he was in the Navy, a Camillus 1992 camp knife. I never really thought much of it, and only carried it when I would go camping or fishing. Well it eventually ended up getting lost in a huge pile of other junk I stored from my adolesence. Earlier today, I was going through a bunch of stuff in my storage room to make some room. I came across a cardboard box of a bunch of what I thought was total junk. I took it out to the living room and told my wife to throw it all away. Being as nosy as she is, she ended up going through the box of stuff. I bickered at her: "don't go through it, just throw that stuff away". A few minutes later she came to me and asked "are you sure you want to throw this away?" and presented me that very knife I had been missing all my adult years. My face instantly lit up. For me, it was like winning the lotto. I figured I would have never seen that blade again... Man, that really made my whole day...

It's a bit dirty, but nothing a tuf-cloth won't fix!

oguruma,

Congrats on a great find from your childhood. I just bought a Camillus Camp Knife to replace the one I carried for years and years but lost during a recent move to Texas. Loved that knife, loving this one too.

Best,

Awesome! My dad gave me my first knife when I was 5 or 6 (swiss army soldier). I lost it in the woods when I was about 12. Me and my friends were tossing our knives into trees, getting them to stick. Well, on one toss I missed and the knife went into the woods, never to be seen again...
