Anyone watch " Alone in the Wild " Ed Wardle http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/alone-in-the-wild
Seems like a good show to me ... man is worried about Bears.
the 1st show mapped out his gear & will for the week long ordeal just to see if he could do it ,Between the solitude, fear played on his mind & the Fear of Bears he has.Newer episode will air in September he is going back for a longer period of Stay with new found knowledge from the week long prior visit

So he is equipped and presumably prepared to go do 3 months in the wild and film the whol thing and he is bawling like a 5 yr old in just 3 days? WTF?
I would give my left nut to do that

I'm not sure if I know ANYONE that would cry after 3 days---

NONE of you on this forum would CRY after 3 weeks--much less 3 days

Where did they get this man???

My wife and I watched and both of us were surprised at how unprepared he was, both mentally and knowledge wise. The last part of the episode where he walked with the local botanist should have happened before his week long trial in my opinion. I think for him to be succesful he will have to come to grips with that fear of bears.

He does seem to have some wildlife skills though, he didn't struggle with fire in a pretty "wet" place, and he seems capable of catching fish. Now that he knows about local plants I think he might be O.K. but I think his first bear encounter will be one of the real tests.

One more thing: the description said he had a rifle, knife and the clothes on his back, but during the trial he had a pretty nice looking axe, a shotgun, rod and reel, and obviously several sets of clothes/outerwear. I wonder if this equipment list will be paired down for the real show?

All in all I liked the show, but I think it may be a pale imitation of Survivor man.

LOL , I laughed during his break down and my wife was like WTF is he doing , I said this is the Drama portion of the show :D

Yeah, that sounds like a much better way to make a living than what I do day-in, day-out.

at one point it showed his gear all laid out in his apartment and showed a 22rifle Stainless or nickels but in the first episode look like he was carrying a mossberg 500 he had a lot of gear laid out looked like an extremely heavy pack to boot

I missed this part, I think we caught it 10-15 minutes in.

Yeah, the .22 is what he's bringing for the 3 months outing, I believe. The 500 is what he had with him for the "scouting" trip, the 7 day deal. To my knowledge, anyways.

I see  I missed part due to 6Week old Chihuahua's playing

I can't know what might be going on in another man's head until I'm in his shoes, and probably not even then...but I seriously think that after only 3 days I'd still be in novelty/vacation/this-rocks mode....especially since he isn't having a tough time gear/safety wise.

Have ya seen the last one where he gets the porcupine ? He said that he was no porcupine butcher but he didn't look like he had ever skinned anything before !!!!!

When it comes to these type of shows I just try to learn from the mistakes made more than anything else.

I didn't get to see the whole show, but the little I did see that was on TV wasn't that bad. Except the fear of bear talk every couple of minutes.

I was kinda surprised too about the crying three days in also, but I'm sure I'll still watch them all just like I did Expedition Africa. What can I say, there just isn't anything else on.
