Alox engraving

Have any of you done this yourself with an individual letter punch type? What about supporting it so it doesn't bend the handle? What results have you had?

Also what about having it done what where your results? Cost? I've inquired here but not much available and no cost quote unless I bring it in.

Laser engraving, any experience.

I don't have the search function available to me so I hope this hasn't been covered before.

I've had a few multi-tools laser engraved. On some of the alox Swiss army knives (e.g. Victorinox Pioneer) there is an engraving panel but you can also have the blade engraved on those that lack a Panel (e.g. Victorinox alox Soldier). In my opinion the engraving on the handle looks better. Most online sites that do engraving have $ quotes on their site and photo examples of their work. It wasn't very expensive for engraving on the blade or the handle (ball park figure: around $8 to $12 depending on the site). A custom graphic logo (e.g. the bladeforums logo) typically has a setup fee around $50.

Eek!!! That's nasty. That must have been a standard engraving. Laser engraving never would have done that.

I think you must be right. I suspect that if it wasn't coloured then it wouldn't look half so bad.

I am going to try the Laser route after speaking with some engravers. Trouble is I have to drive 150 miles to get there but I'm overdue anyway. I'll post my results when completed. This might take awhile as I'm walking there
