So a few folks said I should forget the Ontario Camp knife & get a SAK.

Which model would be good for a returning Marine?

I know nothing about knives except the Cadet comes in a pretty red (which I'm sure he doesn't care about).

The Pioneer. And it has an engraving plate on it, so if you want to personalize it, I'm sure the returning Marine will never forget it. The Farmer is another model that gets almost nothing but praise around here. It's a Pioneer with a saw. That simple. But it's a great saw.

I'd say a farmer and this thread is worthless without photos so I'll fix that. :D

All are farmers. Yes I like the farmer.

I had a Farmer but gifted it to my God son. He loves it and I have a couple SAKs coming in this week and I think I may keep one for my self and my Boy Scout son.

I carried a Pioneer for months with no substitutions.
Abused, used, and used a bit harder than It probably should, and no bladeplay or issues AT ALL.
PIONEER 100 %

OK. Let's look at some of the choices:

Here is the pioneer in black:

Here it is in red. I have to admit to a real fondness for this knife. I carried one on my keychain from age 17 to about 40 when I gave it to my 10 year old daughter, who still cherishes is because she knows it was something dear to me I gave to her. I don't think mine had the same shield and cross on it, I think it was something simpler. But otherwise this looks pretty much the same.

Here it is in silver. I have two of these. I ordered one from Knife Center of the Internet and got the 100 year Anniversary model, with an etched blade, but no doohickey for attaching to key chain. When I called to complain they just sent me another one. Needless to say, I've bought another thousand dollars of knives from them since.

Here is what I get when I google "Victorinox Soldier"

Looks like the Pioneer but without the key-chain attachment.

This one also comes up:
