Seems like there is a new soldier model coming out this year, basically a rescaled trekker. This has led to speculation on other forums that the alox models may be no more. That would be a real shame.

Have you guys heard anything?

From what I have heard, the alox models are still selling pretty dang well. I doubt they are going away.

I miss the toothpick and tweezers...but I sure do love the Alox models. An Alox Cadet finds it's way into my pocket frequently.

From what I have heard round SOSAK ,the Alox Soldier is going , the Pioneer (Soldier with a different crest an keyring is staying ),other Alox models are staying. Some believe that the Wenger Standard Issue is going. The 08 Soldier may become collectable. Alox models should be alive and well.

I think Alox is too popular to phase out. I believe the new Soldier was made to modernize it and give the boys something more substantial.

I love the ALOX models.
I carry a 07 Soldier as EDC.
I also got a 08 Soldier for my collection :) And I'm going to buy a Wenger S.I.
A Farmer is on my Christams list ;)

Well, the "aloxs" are actually available in 93mm, 84mm, and 58mm. The speculation was around 93mm, since they were based on the Soldier model. According to the official statement from Victorinox (can be found in their Q&A area at victorinox.ch), the soldier will go (it is too similar to the Pioneer), but the rest of the alox line will continue.
