I just received a Victorinox 'alox' pioneer, which I had expected to be some type of metal scales. It neither looks nor feels like metal, and upon taking a magnet to it, no reaction. So my question is this - are all 'alox' knives metal, or are there some that have the same pattern (that checkered-style) that are actually just plastic? I compared it to another knife that I have from Victorinox, and it seems legit, so I'm not thinking it's a fake... Any ideas?

You know, that thought came to me after I posted this. I guess I was actually thinking it was a steel, like stainless, (although I should have known better) and when it seemed not to be, I was like 'oh, crap'. Ah, I guess I win the moronic question of the day award for this one. :-p

steel would be to heavy and alox is short for aluminium, witch is non magnetic and light. its quite a difference compared to the regular cellidor or nylon scaled sak if you have that the first time. relax, enjoy! best sak there is.
