hi all!

first post long time lurker. just wanted to say that for the longest time i've been carrying/collecting mainly spyderco's. but i recently acquired my 1st buck, the alpha dorado in a trade, and i must say, i am loving it! Currenly my favorite edc; great size, nice heft, sharp, classy, and aesthetically pleasing.

was wondering why i hardly read about it on forums? what's the general opinion on these things? also anyone know if other variatins are in the future? i want more!

thanks for listening.

Multi, Welcome . Feel free to lurk by anytime .
Buck has made that model with different steels over the years . It was first introduced with ATS-34 and rosewood slabs then 420HC blade . It was even choosen for a collectors model using 154CM and 24kt. gold etching on the blade and Buffalo horn slabs on a total mirror polished knife . A handsome piece . Good choice . DM

Welcome to the forum Multi!

A while back the Dorados were talked about a lot. When they were still fairly new. Still popular, but so many new ones come along.

MF, welcome to the Buck part of the forum... I don't have any alpha dorado or alpha knives... But they sure look like a Great knife... Good luck with your new Buck Knife...

A few of the folks here use and love the Dorado (were is Jeff?).
Buck has done a few cool variations and LE's.

thanks for the welcome!

coming from the spyderco camp, it was refreshing to have something with wood handles and leather sheath. i don't see that all too often. and the weight gives it a more substantial feel, unlike many of the more modern handles like frn or g10. and the ergos fit like a glove. being faily new to the knife world, i don't why it took me so long to own a classic like buck!

i have a feeling this is just the beginning...110's are on the radar

I have two Alpha Dorado variations, one with a CPM 154 blade w. rosewood and one with a 154CM blade in camo. I carried the former today to the lake. I prefer a longer blade in general, like the 110 or the Alpha Folder, but the Dorado is a great small knife for the pocket or sheath. The spear point is nice.

I have a 154cm Dorado in Rosewood sitting right here on my end table. I pulled it out of the roll a couple of days ago. It's a classy EDC pocket knife. Solid is also an appropriate word for it. I'm glad you like it.

On the 110 front, try a Cabela's AG110 first (as a Sypdie guy you want the S30V I'm guessing) or order a custom shop knife on-line with Buck. Last one I did took about 20 days to recieve but it was really nice. Here are some CS110's & CS112's (no longer available) of mine in Royal Indigo Blue and Smooth Buffalo (Top two).

Hi Flat, ITE, & David,

That Indigo is hard to take accurate photo's, sometimes looks to green, somtimes to blue, most of the time darker than it is.
Here is a Aqua Fibron, old school Indigo 110

Here is the 110LL Indigo color

The Dorado is one of my favorites:

The only thing I didn't like was how tall the thumb studs were, so I just filed them down a little.
