I am new to this site and I need some help. I have come into possesion of 2 Alpha hunter knives and would appreciate any info on them. The first is a B278-BK-0 and the second is a B694-BK-0. They both have the letters "S.S." incribed on the blade. I was told that the "S.S." was for salesman's sample. Is this right. If so how many are there? The B694 also has inscribed "Prototype" and Mr. Chuck Buck's signature on the blade. The knives look just like the production models but the black handle material is hard not soft. any info including a value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again
Walter.

Hi Walter,

Your S S stamped Alpha Hunters are "Salesman Samples". There are not many of them out there. The "Prototype" is a pre-production knife and is worth more than the normal 694 having been signed by Chuck. As to the amount of them out there, I have not been able to get an answer on that either. The Alpha Hunters where first introduced in 2002. Hope this helps.
