That looks really great!
I may have to check out some Mammouth some time!

I've made a few mammouth ivory scales recently. The alpha hunter's (fixed and folder) are my favorite knife, especially now since Buck started offering it with S30V steel. Take a look!! Mammouth ivory is much easier to work with than sambar stag, and makes a beautiful knife.

Very nice!! I have seen mammoth ivory on a couple sites and thought about how nice it would work for scales.

I clicked on the first picture in your links and pressed the "right" button thinking it would show me the other pictures with scales. What I got instead were some fantastic fishing photos. Looks like you eat lots of fish!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Yea, when I uploaded those Ivory pictures, it placed them in my Alaska fishing Album. There's no place that compares, however the king salmon have mysteriously been in a steep decline in recent years. Very bad news for both guides and sport fisherman around the world.

I bought the mammouth ivory from a seller on bladeforums (motherofpearlcc) in the knifemaking-supplies forum. He's out of Hong Kong, but is an honest and trustworthy seller.

Here's a picture of a Cabelas Alpha Hunter in India Sambar Stag, along with one of the mammouth ivory scales I cut. First time I was able to make the complete cut without multiple attempts. Sure could never do that with sambar stag.

I have only done the folders because of the non-removable handle on the fixed blade models.

Do you have any folders with Mammoth for sale? Thanks, again.

I actually have one set of scales that's not spoken for (bottom left in pic 80). Sent the other three to my brothers. I may order some more product and try too sell a few, but this thread is not intended to sell knives.

There's currently only a couple mammouth scales available from the overseas supplier large enough for the Alpha Hunter, and the material price ranges from $40-60 plus shipping. Scales with lots of colors sell for $100-200.
