This may be the wrong section to post this and if so I apologize but does anyone here have an Alpha Industries M65 field jacket. If so how is the quality compared to Rorhcos and is it worth the extra $50. Also I heard the m65 runs on the large side and that its best to get a size smaller than normal. I normally wear an XL but if i got a large would l be able wear the liner with a hooded sweatshirt or would it feel a bit snug with the liner and hoodie together?

I got what may have been one of the last American made Alpha M65s a few years ago. It doesn't run as huge as you might think. My $0.02 is not to size down. A liner adds a fair amount of bulk.

Thanks for the info. With the liner and a sweater/sweatshirt underneath, how is it in colder weather (usually doesn't get below 30 degrees in my area).

Down into the low 30s, I'd put a pile vest over a long-sleeved shirt, put the M65 over that and call it good. That's figuring that I'm going to be mostly moving around outside. Your mileage may vary.

Been wondering about the quality on the Chinese Alpha 65s. Wouldn't touch a Rothco & my 30-year-old field jacket's going to wear out one of these days.
Does anybody have one?
Denis
