I just wanted to come in and put up a shameless plug for Alpha Knife Supply.

If you are not familiar with this company, let me fill you in.

AKS is owned and operated by the Bybee family: Chuck, Brenda, and Jessica. This is the epitome of a family run business...each of them is an integral part of the show and in conjunction they run it extremely well.

I am fortunate enough to be able to call the Bybee's my friends. We first met about 5 years ago at a small local show and have since become a part of a very strong circle of friends (commonly referred to as the Washington boys).

If you are in need of any supplies AKS is the place to go.

I have amassed some of the nicest Ironwood blocks and scales that I have EVER EVER seen. Where did I get them??? AKS.

In fact, I have a box containing some of the most beautiful woods you could imagine, Maidou Burl, Claro Walnut, Chechen Burl, Curly maple...the list goes on and on, and it ALL came from the Bybees.

I spent the day at their house Saturday and had a great time. It just reminded me how great this family is and how glad you will be if you try them out and see how it is to have them as part of your knifemaking arsenal.

Okay, I'm done, thanks for looking :D

Here, here. Great folks aways glad to help.

Their web site leaves a little to be desired. Rest assured, they take much better care of the stuff they stock.

Steve

PS The block of G-10 I last got from them has a really cool blue/black design. Gotta love it.

good folks -- I enjoyed buying from them.

wait, did you say "block" of G-10?!

I think what Steve is referring to, is their site isnot flashy and full of color like many of the other supply sites.

But it is straight-forward and easy to follow. They are working diligently on having pictures of every single block of wood they have (trust me, that's a LOT of wood).

And I'd also like to mention their new "Bowie Blocks." These are blocks that have been cut at an angle so that one end is very wide for those of us that like to put a big swell and/or drop in the butt end of a handle.

They even have bowie-blocks in G-10! Hopefully you will see one put to good use before too long (and that means you to Steve!!! ;) ).

I was notified about that in an Email awhile back from Chuck & Co., he included photos.
Personally, I think the "Bowie Blocks" are a great idea, and they beat the heck out of the offerings from other wood suppliers.! :D

do I hear the sound of Beep beeeeeep around here :D :D
I'll check it out thanks Mike :D

just looked at it nice Job Chuck
just a tinge of back ground opaque color to take the edge off (no pun intended :D )
would do wonders with it..nice to the point site the way it should be..

when I get a min i'll put that up on the knife making site.. :)

Chucks the best!!
I wish Alpha could deal in everything I need as a knife maker so I could do all my business with them.
Just write up a list once a month and give em a call.
Michael

Thanks for the shameless plug Nick. Your check is in the mail. ;)

Steve, you are correct. Our website is very basic. We tracked the people hitting our website. Over 40% are still using Windows 3.1 on 28.8 modems (or slower  ). As a result we simplified the website as much as possible.

Thanks for the great comments everyone. We love our work. If there is anything you want us to supply, please let us know. It may take a while, but we try to be responsive to knifemakers.

I should have found this post earlier, but we have ben busy updating the website. We added a mosaic pin picture gallery and took pictures of every piece of wood in the inventory.

Duece Screensaver,
You are true to your reputation, you have to admire a guy who walks the talk. Yes the Bybees are good people trying to give knifemakers good stuff and new stuff to advance the art. You're OK too Deuce...Take Care...Ed
