Just ordered a ZT0200 for me. Now my wife want's something she could carry she's 4'10 and small framed....something not to big but not real small....she's want's to have a knife where it opens fast. What do ya guys suggest?

She won't be opening any boxes or anything like that...more or for some protection.

Thanks.

Her edc is a spyderco meer kat.

For small assisted opening knives I like the Leek and the Needs Work.

My wife is not much larger than yours and she really likes the spyderco Native I gave her.

I'd say Leek, Shallot (longer blade but still pretty light), or OD1. Those are the ones my wife prefers.

I don't think they would be that great in self defense, but I got my girlfriend this one

My daughter is also 4'10 and 90ish lbs and she carries a scallion and a chive. But she also likes the Tremor. When she turns 21 and gets her CCW, she has a Glock 19 waiting.

1660 leeks and 1620 scallions are good options. If she wants something a little bigger (you mentioned protection) the 1840 shallot would be a good choice (that is what my wife has). Obviously for protection, the first thing you want is for it to be big enough to have visual deterrence, but not so big that it cannot actually be used if deterrence does not occur. The 1840 does not have the safety lock, so in a tough situation (which we all hope that no one ever has to get into) that is one less thing that you need to try to remember. Blurs can also be good (depending if she would prefer a speed safe flipper, or thumb stud). also for visual deterrence, try to get something with the old style serrations.

it depends on what shell be using it for. if she just wants a utility knife id go with the needs work or the shallot. or the rake. or the skyline. my skyline opens just as fast as a spring assisted knife. if she wants a self defense knife, then i would go with a blur. the blur has decent gimping and the trac tech gives the knife some grip. she may wind up with some tendon cuts if she tries to stab someone with a shallot. the r.ake would also be another good self defense choice. if she just wants an edc then the leek scallion, or od1 would be great. the skyline would also be good. the od1 was disco'd. so u may have to look around online, or in pawn shops and stuff. my bass pro still has quite a few in stock so u may check there. personally id go with a rainbow colored leek. they have them in cabelas.

My wife has a BM Mini-Grip, doesn't like it too much. Bought her a G10 S30V Leek, and she LOVES it!

Assuming protection, anything with G10 scales or something similar that's grippy with a flipper. I personally feel a Kershaw RAM would do great for it. Next would be to teach her how to use it. But before all that, get her a can of pepper spray or something.
