Been lurking in here for a while. Now that the Meaner Street and Leaner Meaner Street are in the Company Store, I'm extremely tempted to grab my first "real" Busse (I've a few SRKW knives already). Unfortunately, Eric keeps leading me on (and others, I know) with teasers about the soon to be available "Dog Skinner". :eek:

The question...In the quest for immediate (or, if Eric is telling the truth) very soon gratification, do I stick out the wait and try for the SRKW knife, or blow my budgeted knife money for the next couple of months for the "real" thing?

I imagine any of these knives will slice well and will probably hold up to the indestructible reputation of the parent company(ies).

As many of you are cross-posters...I figure you can give some solid recs.

Oh...buy both is a great idea, but there is the issue of blowing the budget even further into the new year :p .

i guess it mainly depends on intended use.
if skinning is one of your requirements, i'd go for the doggie.
don't forget you'll have to be at rat chat at the exact time eric puts these up for sale... they're very limited so they're gonna go real fast.
skuk-a-doo has his in his grubby little paws as we speak and he'll have you a mrs or lmrs by monday.

Purchasing a Meaner or a Leaner Meaner from Scott is as close to instant infigratification as it gets.

Man, I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.

Actually, the easy way out, buy both. I don't know the anticipated release date of the Rat offering. Almost one of those things where you buy one and then better hock something to have funds on hand for the other.

Heck, I'm getting frustrated just thinking about being in your shoes.

Sell something buy both!! I just got the leaner meaner what a knife!! Got get it some pants and its my edc from now on. :) Happy in Florida :)
 
Fine...dammit...I know tomorrow marks 14 days (the proverbial 2 weeks from the last Dog Skinner post on the SRKW forum), but I've had it. I had a brief victory today, and any reason is a good one to celebrate.

Went ahead and ordered the Meaner Street from the company store. Well...everyone has a first time. ;)

Will probably still try to get a Dog Skinner anyway (however, I'll need to look into a sneaky way of paying-small ATM withdrawals and a money order?-since the main repercussion will be the whipping [listen for the "crack"] and tongue-lashing I'll get if too many knives show up on the credit card statements.

Last time I purchased a couple of RTs and my wife finally insisted on knowing "who is this Busse person you keep sending money to?".

i know you won't be sorry for spending the extra $$$$ on the busse. i like mine so much and want to carry it edc but i don't want to send it away for pants :( what a dilemma, i would miss it too much
 
Hey Witchhunter, I'm sure one of the hoggier (???) sheathmakers would have a pattern for your knife, that is if its not one of those variants or one off's. Send em a note, its worth a shot, and you might not have to worry about sending your pride and joy away. :)

Ham Hocking! lol! :D I've sold and traded off many a nice custom and production knife for a Busse. ;)
 
hey leatherhog my knife is the new meaner street and i doubt they have made it to the sheath makers yet. and if i sent mine first before they got theirs they would drool on it too much :D just kidding
