A 5# Collins Rafting axe on a 36" handle originally conceived as a splitter extraordinaire...but instead became a monumental failure ...
The axe was prone to either sinking and sticking or flipping to the side on impact when I tried to use the wrist twist to avoid the stick--likely because of the weight of the poll vs the weight of the bit. So I shortened the handle and changed the finish as a dedicatory visual for being re-purposed to a heavy duty Faller's axe. Interestingly enough, it actually splits wood much better due to being able to use the twist with better control because of being choked up on the handle. But a general purpose Faller is what it will be ... at least until another notion strikes ...
