I noticed (yeah - I went to college to get this smart) that some Spydercos have black clips with a gold Spyder logo...

Can one BUY that fancy clip to put on a lower-brow Spydie?
I have a Native with the new clip with the hole pattern that would look pretty cool if it was black and gold...

I mean, if I went around saying I was an Emperor because some
moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, people would put me away!

I've bought spare clips from dealers on a couple of occasions, and I have proof

that SFO can get at least some models of clips, as I recently bought a silver clip for one of my BF Natives from them.

A related question that, hopefully, Sal or Charlie can answer: I called SFO last week having heard that they might have black clips for Starmates, and was told, "not yet, but soon". Well... is it soon yet?

Eager to quiet down my Starmate,

Could some one email me the contact info for this magical SFO?

Ogre: Sorry for the abbreviation, SFO == "Spyderco Factory Outlet", formerly "Ironstone". 1-800-828-1925. They've recently rewired the Spyderco website with "buy" buttons next to all the standard knives, but they don't list all the cool odds-and-ends yet, so you have to just call and ask.

I havent even gotten my Starmate yet and im already thinking of getting a black clip.

I dont really want to be flashing that shiny clip around--it would be saying, "Hey everybody, look what i have!--yes, a big knife!"

Dan, my thoughts run along the same lines; I've got a Starmate and I think the shiny clip actually looks very classy, and thought it strange when people started asking for a black clip, but now I feel like the clip sorta "advertises" the knife: I can tuck my M2 Stryker into my waistband and few will ever even notice, but doing the same with the Starmate makes me a bit more concerned -- it's quite legal for me to carry, and to me it is a tool, not a weapon, but I worry about scaring people who aren't as smart and well adjusted as the crowd here on the forum

So, anyone know if the black Starmate clips are available yet? Don't really wanna bug SFO every day...
