Alternative Buck handle's?

I was wondering does or will Buck ever make their stockman and slip joint knives with alternative handles say in jigged bone, antler or horn? I love my Buck slippy 303 but I would absolutely love one with upgraded handles.

I was in a Bass Pro and saw a Buck Vanguard in sheep horn handle and it looked outstanding. Does Buck do special runs for the Bass Pro's and Cabela's because some of those knives are not in the web-site.

Buck has in fact made the 303 with both jigged bone and stag handles. Jigged bone are not currently in prodution, but can sometimes be found on ebay. There is a stag handled limited edition 303 currently available; it generally runs around $60-$70. I sure that 300Bucks will be along in the near future and can provide you with a whole lot more information about the 300 series slippies.

If you can't find what you want you may consider having custom handles put on by an embellisher

Yes, What Tin and Keen said, will be back with photos soon. You will have to find old ones as only stag is currently available in USA made. China made has some 'other' scales. Old USA Yellow, Red certainly possible, Jigged bone probably, Redbone, Old Stag harder but possible. But be warned TinSue,other fourmites and I along with several non-forum deep pockets fancy 303s also........300$s

Back with promised photo....few examples of non-black handles. One laminated China thrown just because it is marked on the blade 303... most of these scales can be found on other models of 300s.......I would be willing to consider the cost of a premium steel blade Ivory scale 301 and 303
If one were ever proposed............300$s

Someone may ask: China (Back Left), Brown Bone(Back Right)

Limited Edition Bone (2nd from Back Left),

New Stag (Center) , Grey Workman (2nd from Back Right)

Red Smooth (3rd from Back Left), White Poly Pearl (3rd from Back right)

Yellow Sawcut (Front left center), Black Poly Pearl (Front Right)

Red Sawcut was home sick but sends his reguards.

Hi DD,

Go to SMKW; they currently offer a large and a small Stockman in red jigged bone.

Thanks for the input guys. Where can I find the limited edition stag handle 303? I'd love to get my hands on one.

Sweet pics 300Bucks, thanks!

jb4570 what is SMKW?

I just want one to keep in my pocket. I'm not a collector persay I like using my knives. I just like Buck knives and prefer them is all. I see some of the handle choices that case offers and wish that Buck would do the same. I like Buck's steel, and am not real picky when it comes to carbon or stainless on a slippy. I like the 440HC just fine. It looks like the China buck slippies have wood handles. Are there currently any USA production slippies in wood? Thanks all.

Looked on the Buck website guys and found what I am looking for!!! The 303 cadet in sambar stag!!! Sweet I will be getting one or two of these baby's for sure! YES!!!

Our work here is done. Another one bites the dust.

Good Luck, DD and embrace the hard fact...one is not enough...

For the stag handle 303, try one of the more popular auction sites.

SMKW is Smoky Mountain Knife Works which is a retail outlet; however, the red jigged bone 303's referred to are indeed Bucks but are made in China if that is important to you.

Yep, you got the fever; good job $300!! ;)

You dont happen to have a picture of that stag 303 seperatley do you? I had my eye on one but it seemed a little thick. That is one sweet knife.

Kyhunt,

Yes, the stags run a little thick over what you expect. I can get a pic up in a bit but generally they are thicker than black Derlin or other scales. Buck will soon be making all in the US. If you want a user now, you know if you lose one once in a while, you might want to get a jigged bone China Buck till they get the USA models up and running then give the CB to a deserving kid.

There I said CB again.

I wont comment on the CB due to I know the grief it stirs. I may just carry this 303 I won for now.
