I was wondering if anyone knows of any good alternative tomahawks/hatchets for the GB Wildlife Hatchet? Under 15 inches, Thanks.

Find a Husqvarna dealer and have them order you one of there hatchets. Mine is 12 inches long and almost the spitting image of the Wetterlings in the post above. Sand the handle and grind the excess that's sticking out of the head off, and give it a liberal bath in danish oil. It will be the so close to the GB it's scary!

I'm pretty sure the husqvarna is made by wetterlings. I agree with thundarstick.

Search for Cegga axes. He is a custom maker. You won't get anything better and his prices will shock you (in a good way). I would just tell him you want something like a GB wildlife and he will set you up.

I was checking out a Reeves belt axe on the exchange. Its pretty much the same thing. Really nice but way pricier than the Gransfors. Plus I've managed to persuade my sister to get me a Wildlife hatchet for Xmas, and I dont even have to wait that long because we're having Xmas in November. :D

Nice Sister..............

As someone how owns a Gransfors Bruks 13" and a Wetterlings 15", I think the Wetterlings is a much better deal. You get the same quality (Wetterlings is owned by Gransfors bruks) at half the price. Smoky Mountain Knife Works has Wetterlings at $55.00 for the 15" and $50.00 for the 12 1/2". I don't know if it matters or not to you but the wetterlings head is a little heavier than the Gransfors Bruks, I like that about them myself.

Anyway I hope this helps .

I saw this old topic and am curious if a Marbles Small Belt Axe or Single Bit Hatchet could handle the tasks the Wildlife Hatchet excels at?
