Is there any aftermarket sheath available for the 120? The original sheath rides too high on the belt for carrying a backback.

Do you use the waist belt of your backpack? If yes this belt is a good place for the knife sheath.

I know what he's talking about. So, I made a lower riding sheath. It has the belt loop at the top of the pommel. That allows it to be drawn without the tip hanging. You can also stitch on a additional loop perpendicular to the existing one which would allow it to be mounted in a cross draw fashion. DM

I don't what to put it on the back pack belt. If I have to get rid of the pack, the knife is gone as well. I know, the scenario is not very likely, but still.
I guess I have to fashion somefing.
Thanks for your input

I bought this Buck 120 with stag handles at a pawn shop last month - it was missing the sheath. A search on the internet led me to Carl Thomas in Mississippi - he makes a selection of sheaths for various Buck knife models and keeps them in stock. I am pleased with the fit and finish, it rides low too. OH

Gotcha. Would you tell a bit more about your backpack?
Do you have a picture with the pack on the back?

This is a factory sheath from a Ontario Spec Plus SP1, "Marine Combat". The 120 fits perfectly in the sheath and the lower retention strap works like it was made for the Buck. The upper retention strap is a little loose since the SP1 has a much thicker handle. I don't worry about it but you could always just shorten it or cut it off all together. Hope this helps!

Edit... And to address your original concern, it rides about 1.5" lower than the factory Buck sheath.

BTW, Old Hunter that is an absolutely beautiful 120. The old General doesn't seem to get much love around here and that is a gorgeous example. I don't mean to derail the thread but I'd love to see a full shot without the sheath if you have one!

Wow Tom, how could I refuse such an eloquent request for a photo! Thanks, OH
Ps for relevant topic discussion; I tried the stag 120 in a standard Buck 120 sheath - my knife would fit just fine but was a little too tight in the over-flap portion - so I opted for the open top custom design.

I've always liked the 120 and find it very useful. A good model to carry when in the woods. DM

Thanks, this seems to be a good solution.
