Does anyone know of a reputable sheath maker who makes or would make a kydex or leather sheath for the cold steel master tanto & others?
The Cold Steel secure-ex sheath is probably the worst sheath ever made, in that due to the glass filled nylon it dulls the blade with each draw and re-sheathing.

Plenty of the makers here can do it for you, but you'll need to send your knives in to them for fitting. Custom sheaths could cost more than the knives, so be ready for that.

After some searching, it seems there are several kydex sheath makers who produce sheaths for that CS model and others. I have never used any so I will not recommend any.

Thanks SharpBits. Glad to see a solid recommendation, seems like just what I am looking for. I'll have to contact the sheath maker directly since the grind on these knives is sabre with DLC, unlike the uncoated hollow grinds.

I have sheaths from him for an SRK 3v as well as a Pendleton mini- they are great.

I guess we're in the minority. I thought the SRK factory sheath was one of the better things about it.

OP, yes it's a tight fit but you can use a file to sand down the nodules on the inside/spine side of the sheath for extra clearance so the blade doesn't touch. It's a tight fit but I tested it and as long as you guide the knife in along the spine it shouldn't touch (post filing mod).

There are many complaints about CS sheaths dulling knives. I have been lucky to have gotten sheaths that fit well (including the SRK), but the sheath for the Pendleton was an absolute joke to provide with a great little cutter.

This is an interesting idea, I didn't think of trying to file it down.
The old DLC saber grind Tai Pan sheath is the worst offender, but for one sided blades I could see this method being reliable.
