Alternative Sheath for Fallkniven Kolt

I've been carrying a Fallkniven Kolt for a while now and the small sheath that comes with the knife works pretty well for pocket carry. In spite of using the knife constantly, the retention tab has not loosened or failed yet. Unfortunately, the retention is not that secure, though. I would like to use the knife as a neck knife and I wondered if anyone is aware of a company that is making kydex sheaths for the KK (Kolt Knife). I know I can send it out and have a sheath made, but I've come to love this knife and don't want to switch EDC to anything else even for a few weeks.

I found a nice leather pocket sheath (with stone pocket) at Triple R Enterprises (the maker of the sheath was Obed River Leatherworks) but Triple R is out of this sheath and the Obed River Leatherworks website seams to be either a work in progress or no longer functioning. Their sheath was not a neck model anyway, but it looked like a great pocket set-up.

Anyone have any info on someone who makes a stock sheath for this knife?

Thanks

I'm glad you posted this. I've been looking at the Kolt as a general outdoors/hunting knife and the sheath is the only thing that keeps me from purchasing it. I was looking at the KSF pocket sheaths but can't confirm that it would be a good fit.

How have you liked the Kolt so far.

I really love the Kolt. The blade is about 3-1/4" long. It may sound odd, but it looks and carries like a much smaller knife while cutting like a much larger one. It's slender enough to be carried in a chest pocket or slipped into a pants pocket. The blade is fantastic, easy to keep razor sharp, and makes for a very practical box-cutter, whittler, general purpose knife, smaller food prep, and personal eating utensil. I use mine for just about everything. If I don't have a reason to use it, I try to find a reason.

The factory sheath really isn't that bad. It took some getting-used-to because it's designed for loose pocket carry (or so I surmise). In that role it functions perfectly. It would make a great neck knife with a good kydex sheath, or be very convenient in a pair of overalls chest pocket or the rear pocket of a pair of jeans in the Obed sheath I mentioned in the original post.

I can't recommend the Kolt highly enough. I've set aside my folders since I bought this little fixed blade knife and I don't really see myself going back. I find I don't need the overly wide blades on many folders, and the fixed blade just feels better in the balance department. I have a Spyderco Native 5 that feels like an extension of my hand, but even that knife is now at best a back-up knife for the Kolt.

I think the next knife I purchase will be a Bark River Mini Fox River or City Knife. These look like the same idea, except they have heavier, thicker handles. The biggest thing the Kolt has done for me is turn me on to smaller blades and shown me how useful a small fixed-blade really is. It's changed my perspective on fixed blades, blade lengths, and carry-methods.
