Alternative to a Fenix PD20

I recently purchased a Fenix PD20 to carry as a backup flashlight when at work. I really like the output and strobe feature on the PD20 but I just can't get used to the controls. I've used a Surefire for years and I just prefer their tailcap control setup. Press for momentary and twist or press all of the way down for constant.

Is there a good alternative to the PD20 in it's price range? I would like something that is the size of the PD20 but has the different control setup. I've owned a Surefire E1 in the past but I would prefer LED and higher output than the Surefire offers. I would like to have the strobe feature but it is not a priority.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'd tried searching CPF but they are a little out of my league as far as flashlight lingo.

Flashlights can be suprisingly complicated, it also won't be easy to get another light with similar features at the same price point as the PD20. If you have a SF 6P or similar P60 style light there are several mod options for them that would keep you in your price range.

What lights do you have and how much are you looking to spend?

For smaller flashlights I currently own a Surefire G2, Inova X5, and the Fenix PD20. I had considered modding the G2 but I want a flashlight that is smaller than the G2 to take up less space on my belt. I would prefer to spend under $60.

fenix l1t. doesnt have the anti roll bezel, but has simple operation.

two output modes controlled by a turn of the bezel, momentary on.

i like the nitecores as well, but i have found them to be a bit more "comlplicated". i have a d10 piston drive, and i like it, but the switch isnt as consistent as i had hoped.

You might consider the Surefire L1. Yes, it's a little bit pricey but it works the way you describe (press for momentary on, press harder for brighter).

I would love to get an L1 but it's well out of my price range. I'm looking to spend around $60.

The NiteCore or Olight might fit the bill. Can someone tell me if you push down their tailcaps for momentary?

I want a flashlight that works like my Streamlight Ultra Stinger and Surefires. Push lightly for momentary and push all of the way down or twist for constant on. I need a flashlight that I can use for searching buildings if my Ultra Stinger goes down.

Fenix L1T V2 and Nitecore NDI are good choices.

I would go with the NDI. It can be used as a simple 2 mode light woth a low and high mode. The low mode is quite useful, lower than that of the Fenix, good for preserving night vision. This mode can also be customised to any level between low and max.

The max mode can be switched between high and strobe.

All of this might sound complicated, but is easy to do.
