i like the LMF II.. i like the blade shape, the blade size, the material, the sheat, the handle.. what i don't like are the SERRATIONS!! and gerber doesn't provide a model without the serrations

Could you point me to other similar models? use: camping/hunting/survival similar specs as the gerber's

Thx

RC-4, fallkniven F1, BRKT bravo1, or something from TOPS.

I really think it's a decent design; a little clunky, but it's built to be used hard. Material is quite decent as is the sheath...but you're right, the serrations suck! That's the only reason I won't buy one.

I have a few in that size range (~5" blades) and the top three that could compete with the Gerber LMF II ASEK would be the TAK, RAT-5 or Ranger Knives. Unfortunately, you'd need to get an aftermarket sheath to make it a better "system".

My recommendation to Gerber would be to drop the serrations from the main blade and give you the option of a seat-belt cutter or a simple serrated blade that would fit in the same little add-on sheath as the cutter.

Thanx Rock, my collection looks lame compared to yours..I got Knife-envy now! Lol..

I think the Rat-5 is what our friend needs, I really dig the SOG Gov-Tac which is a 6"er..
