Alternative to Photobucket

The title poses my question. Is there a good one out there or has Photobucket cleaned house and sent the viral threat to virtual limbo? I hesitate to peruse old photos or store new ones there since Jaxx posted the alert mid January.
Thanks,
Pete

+1 on image shack, I don't even register just upload, and get my link.

I think that they are getting a handle on it over at PB. I've not seen an AV/firewall alert since I've sent them a screenshot showing an alert for Trojan.Pidief.G... But I can't say that it's clean, just that I've taken steps to prevent further attacks from slipping through.

If you check your computer with Secunia PSI (secunia.com) for program updates/upgrades and make sure your Internet security programs are running current defs...you should be OK over there. Well, at least any threat should be blocked.

Jaxx,
Thanks for the tip about Secunia PSI. So far, Fprot has worked very well for me but I'll see what secunia.com has to offer.

My pc bit the big one Today while on photobucket!!!! I absolutely can't get it to restart no matter what! I'm probably going to get a new machine tomorrow! iMac!

Whiskey River, can you explain what's happening when you try to restart it?

My friends and I share webspace (disp0sable.org) that we use to upload and share / store all sorts of files.

It's not as user friendly as any of these photo sharing sites (no user interface, we upload using ftp software) but it's cheap, safe, private and infinitely more versatile than anything these photo services provide.

It asked if I wanted to try a startup repair I think... But that wouldn't work. After trying that, the screen would be blank. More retried gave same result!

Can you block pop-ups and raise your security settings to prevent the adds from running while in PB?

Not asking for me as I pay for unlimited storage and see no ads.

I like www.zooomr.com

It's very similar to flickr, and offers unlimited uploads.

Also, it's related to the Zoho cloud computing suite which has an excellent reputation.

Jaxx, check the post I made in the other thread. All of those emails happened this weekend.

I had more problems at PB last night. I'm through with em...they should have had this fixed by now.

I just loaded a pic to flickr, but don't see how to copy it here. I'm about to try.

I don't know if they've weeded them out, but I recall hearing that Imageshack had some issues with malware with all of the ads they started throwing in your face.

I haven't had a problem with photobucket.

I use photobucket, but have pop ups blocked with firefox and ad ware, and have yet to have any issues, running a full scan now however. I've been considering switching anyway.
