the other day i was paintinganything interesting some playground equipment for an eagle project and found my self without anything to open the paint can. i sat for a while and thought. then i pulled out my minigrip and used the clip to open the can. what have you guys used knives for other than cutting? i think these would be interesting

I don't really use my knife for much aside from cutting. I do some scraping at times, a little slicing, seldom use it for stabbing. Why people don't want to carry one of these is something that is still a mystery to me:

Nope, don't want to ruin a blade. I carry a Squirt PS4 on my keychain. Handy little thing, the pliers are quite functional and it saves me from being tempted to abuse my knife.

The bolt handle flew off one of my students M1014 shotgun during a course of fire the other day and could not be found. I stuck the rear bolster of my tiny toothpick in the hole and racked the bolt to the rear to eject the live shell from the chamber. Tried my pen first but it snapped.

I've used the blade to close a low-voltage circuit (epee body cord for the fencers out there).

Bashing, hammering, prying, twisting, scraping, and all manner of ham-fisted tasks that they were never meant to do.

Mirror polished blade on my Case trapper helped my girlfried when she was fixing her hair.

I picked up an Enders key chain pry bar at the hardware store and it's a very handy thing to have. Its strength surprised me.
Anybody could justify carrying one of these.

thanks to al3xd4gr34t for best laugh today. will probably never post him again since i do'nt know how to type.

Knives are often used to play slide quitar.

I once used a pocket knife to do a quick feed job on a Sterling .22 pistol.

Well, my pockets flap a lot. So I use my folders to stop them from flapping around. ;)

That's why I need heavy folders.

I used the butt end of this baby

to crush some ice. Said ice was in a plastic cup, hand held by a friend, who wanted to pour some oozo over ice, out at an event with no ice breaker nearby. Worked admirably well.

On my last camping trip I used the spine of a khukuri as a meat tenderizer. Got back from Ralphs (wood/ice/booze/meat run), slid the steak into a heavy duty zip lock, laid it out on the cooler, pounded away, poured in the marinade, tossed it in the cooler for dinner. Worked like a charm.
