Alternatives to the General--wood handle but just as big or bigger blade

In the past I have owned The General. Really liked the length and looks of the blade but always found the phenolic handle very slippery when wet with rain, sweat , etc. I saw a massive coffin handled bowie from the custom shop that I loved the looks of but the price was a bit out of my budget range. Any other good alternatives to the General, which have a good sized, beefy wood handle and a blade just as long if not even longer? I'm trying for the traditional bowie knife look, or some interpretation thereof.

Thanks much.

120 General from Copper & Clad with the Cocobolo handle?
(Choice of 420HC or 5160 blade)

124 is an alternative to the 120. Better in some ways. Full tang, taller blade. Lots of versions out there.

Full tang opens up lots of heavier duty roles you might throw at it.

5160 120, good knife as well.

I really like the 120 because it has a long blade, but it is lighter weight than the 124 so it carries easier. The 124 is a beast but the 120 is no weak sister.

The wood handle on a Buck is no less slippery than the Phenolic. I wonder if checkering, like a gun grip, would help.

I picked this modified old 124 up some time ago with plans to have it restored. When I had the ugly duckling in my hand I decided to keep it as is. It also shows you can add texture if you want better grip on the phenolic handles.

No, bought from Craig who bought from Buck that way. Very nice.

If I found the phenolic too slippery I would go to ACE and buy some of that tool handle dip and dip my knife handle into it and be done with it. It works on hammers, it will work on the knife.

I had bad luck with that stuff. I'd go to hockey stick tape first. Or bike inner tube. I started looking for large electrical shrink tube at one time , but never found the right size.
