I've fallen in love with these knives.
But, as I'm sure you know, finding them now is difficult at best.
I still haven't decided if I like the regular or mini better.
More than likely, I'd purchase whichever became available first for a decent price.
If you know where I can get one, lemme know.
Conversely, I'm also wondering what other high quality sheepsfoot/ wharncliffe bladed knives are available NOW in the $200-250 price range.
I prefer liner or frame locks, Ti or Micarta handles, clean lines with no fancy embellishments, and no flippers.
What do you suggest?
Thank you

Mini Begleiter by Kizer. (on the right) Was like $130 on Amazon, I forget the exact price. Frag Ti, M390 hollow ground blade, 3D ti clip, etc. Liner lock.

With your preferences I’d suggest that you monitor the Forum Exchange. I’ve seen several Vero Axons come up over the past couple of months.

A few to consider, some might be a little off the beaten path but it can't hurt to toss them out there. :)

- QSP Penguin (look for the premium blade steel versions; M390 for $70 is out there)
- Kizer Sheepdog non-flipper
- Spyderco Carribean
- Liong Mah KUF EDC 3.0 (about $50 over your budget)
- Spyderco SwayBack (ditto)

Kizer and Kansept both have a number of models that fit the bill, but honestly they sort of blur together into a sea of unremarkable Ti/Ti frame locks for me. If I had to pick one off my list, I'd pick the Sheepdog; I've owned three versions of that knife (although not the non-flipper), and it's an excellent design. The QSP Penguin also punches well above its price point.

In my experience, though, buying Knife B to scratch an itch for Knife A never works out. ;) Hold out for the Axon or Mini-Axon, if that's what your heart wants.

A little off subject, but I am so tired of those makers who make a false sense of rarity to jack up their prices.

On one side you have small companies like TRM who do everything in house and are trying their best to augment production to satisfy the global demand.

On the other hand, you have your Vero or Emp-EDC who chose (very good) chinese companies as OEM but still decide to control production to make a false sense of rarity to justify the hype and their prices.

Who would you prefer to give your money ?

Unpopular opinion for sure but I couldn’t agree more.

Support a maker not a designer selling you a 6 month pre order

QSP Pelican?

Do they not still make those models?

Arcform Slimfoot seems close. The auto version is made by Pro-Tech and the frame lock version by Reate.

Edit: I just noticed that the frame lock model is a flipper. That being said, the flipper looks very unobtrusive.
