Aluminium handle stripping

Hey guys,

I have a black AK with black aluminium handles. Has anyone tried stripping this combo? I am worried that if I dip the thing into paint stripper it will do something weird to the aluminium. Silver/satin blade is cool but a silver aluminium handle could be a bit weird...lol :) ...

I think if you could get a stripper that was only solvent, it would be OK. Some strippers use caustic agents (sodium hydroxide, potassium hyroxide) that will destroy aluminum. If the black on the scales is a coating, then it will be stripped. If it is a anodized finish, it would probably stay black. This might be a question for Garth.

I say dont take the chance, have someone that can put them back (hint: Ban) remove them for you first.

thanks guys...I think I will have to leave it as is. I have a beautiful rattlesnake/black leather sheath on the way from Rainwalker anyway so that will dress it up nicely :) ...

The finish on the aluminum handles is anodized and not a coating, I got this info from Garth the last time I talked to him.
