I just found a shop that still had one of these sitting around waiting for an owner. I like the Aluminum handle with green kraton inserts a bit more then G-10 anyway. The guy gave it to me for 20% off. I love it for an everyday carry knife. Any one have any info on this knife? When and why did they change it? I have all sorts of other knives, but I can't think of carrying anything else. That is till me Starmate arrives this week. We'll see though.

Also made with black inserts (tasty) and blue on blue (rarer). The numbers are floating around for each somewhere here, but yes, a very nice knife.

I have the blue/blue, grey/green, and the grey/black models. They are all beautiful but I like the blue one best. I was in a knife shop today and saw the green one. I think they wanted around $100 and they wouldn't take a dime less.

Do these aluminium Centofantes have same features as G-10 Centos(eccentric pivot, secure lock..)?

Tommi,

The aluminium Centofante doesn't have the secure-lock, not sure about the eccentric pivot but I would guess not, as it is a fairly recent development. I bought Ferret's grey/black one and I much prefer to carry it to my G10 one. I actually find the secure-lock to be a real nuisance, I keep engaging it accidently as I'm taking the knife out of my pocket and then the blade won't open. I can't really see the point of the secure-lock anyway as I can't imagine using the Centofante Jr for anything which would cause the linerlock to fail. To my eye the knife is much more "gentleman's" than "tactical" and looks much better in aluminium than G10.

In case I sound too negative, the Centofante Jr is my current favourite daily carry knife. It is a really elegant knife and the blade shape is extremely useful for "gentleman's" tasks.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

Clay, Thanks.
Centofante is not in my shopping list but I have bought knives impulsively. In those cases it's good to know what to expect.

In my early knife-enthusiast days I had a gray/black Centofante. <sniff> Back when I didn't know what a good pocket knife was. <sniff> I traded it off for something more tactical (BM AFCK) and have regretted it ever since.

The AFCK was a good knife in it's own right, but the Centofante was perfect for daily carry and quite handy in the kitchen. Mayhap I'll try to track down one of the newer ones...

Absolutely. Compare the shape of the blade with that of a Henckels or Wüsthof paring knife.
