Mine got got stolen off my keychain, long story and my fault for leaving it in the open.

Anyway I found a guy who has a black aluminum, ATS-55, with clip, Seki on blade exact dupliate of my old one. He is asking $200. Is he out of line, is it a fair price or what. I know they are scarce and if that's reasonable, I'll pay it. I need some input.

thanks,
mike

Mike, I bought the last one that James Mattis had for US$60 including shipping to Australia. I know I got a very good deal from James (blimey I miss his presence here

) but $200 seems way over the top to me. I guess it just depends how much you want one

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

Way, way, way out of line. They're difficult to find -- I got one of the last one's that Milarm had -- but the going price has been in the $60 range. Search around, post in the knives wanted forum; don't pay $200, unless, of course, you'd like to buy mine.

Mike,

keep looking, they are not seen often but I have never seen one over $100 yet.
BTW, I have never seen an anodized aluminum criket in anything other than Gin1,G2.

recoil,
My aluminum Cricket is ATS-55. IIRC, Spyderco switched from GIN-1 for the last run of them.

Thanks for the input, guys. Guess I'll just pick up a Zytel handle until I can find one for a reasonable price.

The clown who asked the $200 is just missing a mask and gun. Supply and demand is one thing, but jeez! And I told him so after reading all your posts.

I'm curious abouth the ATS-55 and the Gin1 and 2. Which is better? And which is easier to find?

At this point, I'll take the ATS, Gin or CF.

Again, thanks for the reality check!

I meant that I wil take any kind of blade attached to CF or aluminum on a Cricket. Just wanted to clarify. Weird how I got so attached to that little blade. I used it a lot, took it apart about once a year to clean it. Just a great little knive.

dsversky,

Dave, I guess I can't believe everything I read. ( page 96 of Spyderco Story states ATS55 appeared in 1997 with the FRN Cricket)

Dave, thanks for the correct info,
Mike, happy hunting.

Mike, for what it's worth I've got a MIB one and I've been offered $175.00 for it twice in the last few months. The offer came from guys wanting to do some sort of carving/engraving on the scales. It's still in my collection and not for sale.

I bought mine around last X-Mas from MilArm, it's a full serrated and in Gin-1.
Cost me 77+ shipping 23 CND$.
