Aluminum Delica & Endura

I have this idea to have the Delica or Endura with Aluminum scales with the same pattern as the Spyderco Citadel, in stead of the normal FRN pattern.

A sprint run would be amazing. Anodized Aluminum.

I would want one in the flat saber ground VG-10.

That would be my grail Knife.

Thoughts?

Good luck with that. Smooth aluminum Delica 4 might be feasible, given the upcoming titanium version, but IMHO, tooling up for a textured aluminum handle would be far too expensive to do just for a Sprint. Plus, aluminum ranks pretty low on most people's lists of desirable handle materials. Easy to scratch, easy to ding, and without the snob appeal titanium offers. Coupling it with a saber ground blade would further reduce interest. You may like it, but most prefer FFG.

Haha Different strokes I guess

There are aluminum scales you can buy on the bay, and from BladeHQ for the Delica 4 and Endura 4.

Mioduz here on the forums is working on delica scales. He is using a CNC so he could make scale out of anything really.

^^ I would say get the SS scales CNC'd the way you like them or buy plain aluminum scales in your choice of color and have them CNC'd.
Or just pick a pattern and color you like and buy the Aluminum scales.

I don't think a lot of people would be on board for aluminum handled Delica's or Endura's. Maybe if it was Ti, SS, G-10, CF, or even Wood(or some other exotic material) people would go for it.

I won't even consider a knife with aluminum handles. I would say any metal but if there is something with TI that really speaks to me I would probably get it, though it has been years since I have done so. SS is out with the aluminum.

Your best bet are custom scales. If it is a grail then a little invested money shouldn't matter much.

No any interest in Delica/ Endura with aluminum scales. No much interest at this time in most knives with smooth metal scales, either aluminum, ss or even titanium.
Most definitely. If it was up to me, all Spydercos would have midlocks, 50/50 choils, smooth stainless bolsters and wood, ivory, stag, or bone scales.
+1
Paul, I am with you on this. In addition, clip should be easy to remove without any dent exposed, no dent on lockbar and we need clipless Kopa. :)
