I recently acquired an Aluminum Police Model. The handle is good, maybe 95%, but the G-2 blade shows some use. There are a few small scratches and a couple of the teeth are slightly bent over; I'd put the blade at 75%-80%.

Question: I know this knife is somewhat rare, but in this condition, should I put it aside, or just use it?

TIA for the input/advice. :)

I would think that in the condition you describe, using your new knife would'nt lessen the value. However, I'm more afraid of losing a knife more than damageing one from use and that may be a factor with a rare model. Hey, if you want to ever get rid of it let me know, I'm looking for one like yours as a user.

Klesk,

Great find!
The aluminum Police is my favorite version, I carry one at work due to the light weight and of course I like the ergos & the looks.
There were a few versions of the aluminum police, one is brushed aluminum and there was also one that was tuffram coated to resist scratches, the tuffram version was scrapped due to excessive cost.
I have seen aluminum police models with the rivits protruding from the handle and those that were ground flush.
some say POLICE on the blade and others don't.
If you find one with a lanyard hole it is extremely rare.
I will post pics if I can find them.
