Aluminum spacers in handles

I have come across a large piece of aluminum and wonder if any of you use aluminum for spacers on your handles.
Thanks in advance for you help.
 
I used to use it some years ago, it works easy and is light....good, but scratches real easy....bad. For silver spacers, I generally use nickel-silver, and rarely stainless.
 
Thanks so much for your help and thoughts. It is approx. 3/32 thick so would not make a good quench plate. Thanks Scott, I was concerned about rubbing off on the handle, only thought is they were just thing spacers they might work OK.
The sheet is approx. 3x7' a door to a restaurant kitchen.

I like aluminum for spacers. It's light and inexpensive and looks identical to stainless. Here's a recent example:
