Aluminum vs stainless flashlight?

I am thinking of getting a Maratac AAA flashlight for my keychain. It comes in both aluminum with type III anodizing and stainless steel. Would there be any real advantage to the stainless steel version, which costs $10 more?

I carry the SS iTP A3, which is the same thing (but cheaper). I don't really have any good reason for doing so, other than the fact that I like shiny things. :D

The threads are actually rougher on the SS and Ti versions, not to mention the increased cost. Aluminum is an excellent heat sink, so there are not any advantages there. I do like the heavier feel of the SS version, which you may or may not like. Keep in mind that when I say "heavier," the comparison is like saying a nickel is heavier than a penny. You will likely not notice either in your pocket.

Would the stainless have any strength advantage? I have heard one case where the aluminum version of this flashlight broke at the threads when it was dropped.

Something like that is extremely rare. I've never heard of anything like that, unless maybe it was a 100' drop or a total crap light.

The two places I use my flashlights most are on my keys (Fenix L0D Q4) and as a helmet light for cycling (Fenix L1Tv2 upgraded to R2 led). This means that weight is a very important factor for me so I gravitate towards aluminum bodies.
