Yeah , struggled over the practicality of this dagger for 40 or 50 yrs .

The way the world is going , might be the last chance at that kind of price , so pulled the trigger .

For a very long time I've thought this was one of the best available daggers .

Broad enough to effectively slash and slice as well as stab .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

It is a brute, you have to handle it to appreciate it. I was surprised at the size when I got it, it is much larger than its contemporaries. Excellent companion to the Magnum Tanto's.

I own several Taipan's. One San Mai (Taiwan), an all stainless model from the 90's, and a couple of 3V with DLC finish. I do regret not purchasing an Imperial Taipan at a show many years ago. It was the most stunning Cold Steel knife that I had ever seen, one of only 500 made! Just imagine Lynn Thompson coming out of retirement and purchasing Cold Steel back from GSM, making all of their greatest blades again!

It would be easy for Lynn to start a new business instead, but I don't see that happening.

OTOH, I can see young, talented people taking his work as an inspiration and making great blades at a good price point.

(Perhaps with a better marketing, and that would be great too.)

He already did...Never Unarmed

It's much better than the T-Pain dagger...
