Am I a Suspect Now?

I bought my first Emerson knife. It is a SOCFK. I also traded for a new Commander. They both came this week. The SOFCK is more to my liking, but the Commander is no slouch. Both are adjusted properly out of the box. No QC problems.

Does this make me suspect in any way?

Cheers,
Damon

Damon, Congratulations. I'll pretend I didn't hear the "SOCFK over the Commander" comment.

The SOCFK is a great knife, solid, great attention to detail and very nicely sized (if your into smaller knifes).

But you do bring up an interesting point. We toss about the "Usual Suspect" term, but it's not included in the Glossary.

How about some suggestions on a definition.

John

Damon, welcome. First thing is that you have to learn to never mess with John & his Commanders

I think he's the biggest Commander fan.

Term: Usual Suspect (Originated By Les Robertson)

Defination:
Do you check the Emerson forum (10) times a day?
Do you fondle and look at the Emerson in your pocket more then your girlfriend/wife?
If not carried, do you open your safe at night before you go to sleep to give your knives another coat of Tuff Cloth.
Do you wish you lived next door to the Emerson facility so you can go through their garbage to find a rare mismarked/misground blade.
Do you read all you can about the knives.
Are you friends with Les Robertson.
Did you buy a digital camera just so you can post pictures of your knives.
Do you own a Emerson, either custom or production.
Do you have a usual suspect t-shirt.
Do you have a Emerson catalog. (Any year)
Do you have an Emerson Sticker.
Do you beg other people to sell you their Emersons.
Does you boss ask you,"How much was that knife, How much do I pay you"
Did you call Emerson in panic to send you a replacement screw for the pocket clip because your screwdriver slipped & gouged the screw head.
Did you ever send a custom back to Emerson for reburshing because your wife put a tiny scratch/scuff on the bolster with her diamond ring when she was using you prized possession to cut price tags off her stuff after a day of shopping. Then she swears that the scratch was already there, but you know it wasn't there because you know every curve & inch of your knife & would have noticed it. At first you say to yourself that it's only a tiny scuff mark. After a few days the scuff mark actually disappears but you know that it was there. I can't find it on the knife anymore, but it is there. It eats away at you until you can't take it anymore & you send it back to Emerson. THEN, you don't have the knife for a month. Do don't want to carry your other Emersons because those you designated as put in safe only, then......you get your knife back & now it's too nice to carry anymore, so you start carrying a Lightfoot...... (Docter says I'm getting much better now

Well, that's all I can think of right now. Please add your definations. I'm sure there are much more crazy definations out there.

David

David T,
Hillarious !
How true it is...

------------------
"Though a man should conquer a thousand times a thousand men in battle,
He who conquers himself is the greatest warrior."

"This is the law:
There is no possible victory in defense, The Sword is more important than the shield, And skill is more important than either, The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental."

Going by David T's definition, I can only say I am half Suspect. Seven out of fourteen isn't bad is it?

Luckily the Customs are way too expensive, otherwise I might be tempted to buy one. They do go up in value, don't they? It would be more like an investment, wouldn't it? I spent more than a $1000 on a custom gun before, why not a knife? How much are digital cameras? Help!!!

Cheers,
Damon

David, it's time for your medication.

I was hoping for something a little less wordy, but it fits.

Anyone else?

I always thought you had to be a custom owner to be a suspect. I'm up to five production Emersons and am trying to trade or buy three more. I also have decided at some point to save up enough to buy a custom . Do I qualify?

How is this for a definition:

"Usual Suspect" - Term coined by Les Robertson in 01/99. A person that frequents and participates in the Emerson Forum on BF.com. In fact it should be considered synonymous with "Frequent Participant". Custom ownership is not required, just enthusiasm for the products.

John,
I think I like your defination better. Short & to the point.

The part about the scratch is true! I also sent in the halfmoon as well.
