Am I allowed to post an ESEE-4 knife for sale?

I'm not sure if it's allowed or not...I saw that only long-term members are able to sell in the "for sale" section.

It's not long term members - it's paid members at the gold or above level. (gold is only $25 per year, so it's a pretty fair deal)
if you're not a paid member, you can still put things up in the trade forum - but you can't "trade" them for cash, only other items.

Really best if you upgrade your membership and sell in the FS forum.
