Am I allowed to post links?

Hello folks, I've just recently built a new website (yes, it's a paid domain not a "free website") about combat knives, I was wondering if I'm allowed to post them here, as some forums don't allow for people to links for their websites or blogs.

I believe that if you are not selling anything on your site you are free to post a link to a knife related content.

I have my own domain and post pictures of my collection of knives there and other photos and that is always allowed.

However if your site is commercial in nature, you should not post a link to the site unless it is to a site of a supporting vendor or knife-maker.

As a non-paying member, I doubt you will be permitted to promote an outside website/blog.

Especially if you run ads or act as a portal to other revenue sources.

And what do you mean by "paid domain"? Is there money going into your hands from this website in some way?

If so, then it sounds like you are providing services in exchange for money...and by linking to it, you would be promoting something you are selling. I.e., you would be advertising.

Depending on the content, it can fall under solicitation which is not allowed. If folks want to discuss knives they should do it here, not merely use this site as a springboard to drive traffic to their own website. That is where the problems begin. It is very admirable that you took a moment to ask. Many people are not that considerate or even take that into consideration.

As your site is/will be selling products, including knives, you need a dealer membership and would need to post in the appropriate section. Articles and such can fall into the context of a discussion, but given the commercial aspect of your site I believe you'd still need the dealer membership.
